Home from Doggie Hospital!!

Gem is home from doggie hospital sporting leg warmer looking bandages. She is doing well after having her dew claws removed yesterday. We have been on two short, slow walks and has been resting most comfortably the rest of the day. She doesn't seem to be in too much pain but does seem to have trouble getting off the couch so we have had to make a ramp for her so she can get down, it seems to work well and she got the hang of it real quick. I have post a few pics of our spoiled pooch!!

Power Outage Take Two!!

Sorry there are no pictures for this post. Thought I would tell you all about our second power outage in two semesters. Friday just before 8am the lights started to flicker in my office. On-off-on-off-on-and finally off for good. Jason was at home making breakfast when the light did the same there. Within the minute he had phone calls coming in on his cell left and right. Any other day of the summer this wouldn't have been a problem but Friday just happened to be the first day of student leadership training! It was just like the ice storm in January, just 60 degrees warmer. After a call to the electric company to find out that a transmitter had blown and we would be out power for about 4 hours, the PPD (physical plant dept.) went into action. The two generators that were purchased in January were quickly set up to run the computer and projector in the classroom that was needed. The second generator was set up for the dining hall, student center, and kitchen. Things returned to normal by noon, but with many students wondering if we do this at the beginning of each semester. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens in January.
